PM Modi to Inaugurate Infrastructure Projects Worth Over ₹29,000 Crore in Mumbai
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mumbai on Saturday to inaugurate infrastructure projects worth over ₹29,000 crore. The projects include new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station, and crucial road, railway, and port sector ventures.
At NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, PM Modi will launch, dedicate to the nation, and lay the foundation stone for multiple projects related to the road, railways, and ports sector worth more than ₹29,400 crore. The highlight of the visit is the inauguration of the Thane Borivali Tunnel project, estimated at a cost of ₹16,600 crore, which will create a direct connection between the Western Express Highway and Thane Ghodbander Road.
The Twin Tube Tunnel will pass below Sanjay Gandhi National Park, reducing the journey from Thane to Borivali by 12 km and saving about 1 hour in travel time. Additionally, the prime minister will also lay the foundation stone for the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road (GMLR) Project worth over ₹6,300 crore, providing road connectivity from Goregaon to Mulund.
Furthermore, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the Kalyan Yard Remodelling and Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal at Turbhe in Navi Mumbai. The remodelling of Kalyan Yard will enhance its capacity to handle more trains, while the cargo terminal will provide employment opportunities and serve as an additional terminal for handling commodities.
Other inaugurations include the new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and the extension of platforms 10 & 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station. These developments will enhance railway infrastructure and capacity, accommodating longer trains and increasing passenger carrying ability.
Additionally, PM Modi will launch the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, a transformative internship program aimed at addressing youth unemployment and providing skill enhancement opportunities for youth aged 18 to 30 years. The visit will conclude with the inauguration of the new INS Towers at the Indian Newspaper Society Secretariat in Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai, catering to the evolving needs of the newspaper industry.
