North Delta and City of Summerside Canada Day Celebrations Showcase Community Spirit
The City of Delta and the North Delta Lions Club in North Delta have joined forces to present an enriched Canada Day celebration this year in the region. Partnering together, both entities have decided to blend their traditional Family Day event into a spectacular Canada Day experience.
Commencing at 3 p.m., the festivities at Chalmers Park kick off with a vibrant parade followed by an array of activities including live entertainment, carnival games by Delta Church, inflatables, and a cultural corner. The North Delta Lions Club’s renowned barbecue and the Lion Slide Inflatable will be back, alongside food offerings from Punjabi Maihi Church and Delta Church. Additionally, a novel feature this year is the beverage garden courtesy of the Delta Firefighters Charitable Society. The celebrations will culminate in a fireworks display immediately after a performance by Soulstream.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Mayor George Harvie expressed pride in teaming up with the North Delta Lions Club to organize an exceptional Canada Day festivity that merges the beloved community festivals. The Lions Club, with a heritage of over 50 years of hosting North Delta Family Day, has been a pillar in supporting the community, contributing to projects like the Annieville Lions Park Water Park and Picnic Shelter, the accessible swing at Annieville Elementary School, and donations to the Delta Hospital Foundation.
Nicholle Dhaliwal, President of the North Delta Lions Club, conveyed the club’s commitment to upholding its legacy by ensuring this year’s Canada Day celebration is memorable. Grateful for the years of community support, Dhaliwal highlighted the Club’s gratitude for the City of Delta’s partnership in the past and emphasized the value of community participation in events like the Family Day Celebration and Parade that have enriched North Delta’s cultural life.
