Piyush Chawla Makes IPL History with Second-Highest Wickets Record
Veteran spinner Piyush Chawla of Mumbai Indians added another milestone to his illustrious career in the Indian Premier League (IPL) by becoming the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament.
Chawla, aged 35, achieved this significant feat during the recent IPL 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
His 184th IPL wicket came in the form of dismissing Rinku Singh, which propelled Chawla past former Chennai Super Kings and West Indies bowling stalwart Dwayne Bravo in the record books.
Currently, Chawla stands second on the list of all-time wicket-takers, just behind Yuzvendra Chahal of Rajasthan Royals, who leads the chart with an impressive tally of 200 wickets.
The top five bowlers with the highest number of wickets in IPL history include Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Amit Mishra of Lucknow Super Giants, besides Bravo, Chahal, and Chawla.
