Teddy Swims’ ‘Lose Control’ Tops the Radio Charts
Teddy Swims‘ hit song ‘Lose Control‘ has just snagged the top spot on Billboard‘s chart, marking yet another impressive milestone in its journey.
This catchy track, released under SWIMS Int. and Warner Records, has already topped various radio rankings including the all-format Radio Songs chart, Pop Airplay, Adult Pop Airplay, and Adult R&B Airplay before conquering the Adult Contemporary charts.
Notably, ‘Lose Control’ has put a stop to Miley Cyrus‘ incredible 57-week reign at the top of the Adult Contemporary charts with her song ‘Flowers.’
What makes ‘Lose Control’ stand out even more is that it has become only the fifth song to achieve No. 1 status across five different charts, and the first one to do so in almost a decade. The last songs to achieve this feat were back between 2014 and 2016.
So, who are the other members of this elite club? Alongside Swims, we have Adele’s ‘Hello,’ Sam Smith’s ‘Stay With Me,’ Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy,’ and John Legend’s ‘All of Me.’
Before reaching this new height on the five airplay charts, ‘Lose Control’ had already climbed to No. 2 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart back in January. This song, like ‘Hello’ and ‘Stay With Me,’ has shown a remarkable ability to connect with a variety of music fans, crossing genres from pop to adult and even rock.
Not only has ‘Lose Control’ dominated the radio space, but it also led the Billboard Hot 100 back in March. That means it’s part of an exclusive group of songs that have topped both the Hot 100 and these five airplay charts.
Mike Chester, the Executive Vice President of Promotion and Commerce at Warner, shared his thoughts on Swims’ talent, calling him a ‘once-in-a-generation talent’ who blurs the lines between genres. Chester explained that they carefully planned the song’s promotion, recognizing early on that it was resonating well with diverse audiences.
Chester also gave a shoutout to Randall Telfer, highlighting the digital team’s role in building a strong foundation for the song’s success. As ‘Lose Control’ continued to gain traction, they approached introducing it to other formats, such as Adult R&B, with a well-thought-out strategy.
Special thanks were also extended to Ron Stewart and the radio teams working in various genres for helping to craft the ideal promotion strategy, ensuring that Teddy Swims’ captivating voice reaches a broad audience.
