Families Share Heartfelt Stories of Support from McHappy Day Fundraiser
On the 30th annual McHappy Day, families impacted by the support of Ronald McDonald House Charities and St. Clair Child and Youth in Sarnia-Lambton shared touching stories of the assistance they received in times of need.
One of these families, the Mitchells from Barrie, found solace at Ronald McDonald House in Toronto when their youngest son, Jayden, was diagnosed with supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and required treatment at the renowned SickKids Hospital.
Stephanie Mitchell, the mother, recounted the immense relief they felt during their 20-day stay at the Ronald McDonald House, highlighting the emotional and financial support they received during a challenging period.
Throughout Jayden’s treatment journey, the Mitchell family experienced the impact of community generosity firsthand, with events like McHappy Day directly benefiting families like theirs.
As Jayden underwent surgery to address his condition in October 2022 and made a successful recovery, the Mitchells expressed gratitude for the opportunity to stay close as a family during such trying times.
