Tiffany Haddish Collaborates With Diane Warren On Empowering Single 'woman Up'

Tiffany Haddish, the renowned comedian, and actress, is set to kick off Black Music Month with a powerful new single titled «Woman Up.» The song, penned alongside Grammy-winning songwriter Diane Warren, is scheduled for release on Friday, June 7.

The empowering single encapsulates themes of female strength and resilience, echoing Haddish’s personal journey as shared in her 2022 book, «I Curse You With Joy.» In the book, she delves into experiences of childhood trauma, navigating the entertainment industry as a Black woman, and reconnecting with her estranged father.

«I hate to see you this way, lying in your bed, covers over your head, thinking that it’s over,» sings Haddish in the upbeat anthem. She continues, «But it’s not, just stop, and woman up.»

Alongside the single, Tiffany Haddish will also be dropping a music video, which features a cameo appearance by Diane Warren herself, adding an extra layer of star power to the release.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the collaboration, Haddish stated, «I am beyond excited to share this incredible song ‘Woman Up’ with the world. Collaborating with legendary songwriter Diane Warren has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.»

Diane Warren, a revered songwriter with an impressive track record, commented, «It was great to work with Tiffany on ‘Woman Up.’ It’s a song about being knocked down and picking yourself back up. Tiffany makes you believe every word, that nothing can hold you back or keep you down.»

Notably, Tiffany Haddish is a Grammy Award winner herself, clinching the title of best comedy album in 2021 for her work on ‘Tiffany Haddish: Black Mitzvah.’ She joined an elite group of women to win in this category and became the second Black woman after Whoopi Goldberg in 1986.

Diane Warren’s accolades include writing nine chart-topping songs on the Billboard Hot 100, such as Celine Dion’s «Because You Loved Me» and Aerosmith’s «I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.» She has also amassed one Grammy win from a total of 15 nominations and has received 15 nods in the best original song category at the Academy Awards.

Listeners can now pre-save ‘Woman Up’ ahead of its official release and enjoy a snippet of the empowering track. The song is poised to make a meaningful impact with its message of female empowerment and resilience.
