Todd Cantwell Blackburn Rovers Transfer

Todd Cantwell, the wantaway playmaker, is reportedly set to leave Rangers and join Blackburn Rovers for a significantly reduced transfer fee.

Once valued at around £50 million by Norwich City just three seasons ago, Cantwell’s market value has taken a substantial hit. At the time, when cash-rich clubs were looking to replace Jack Grealish, Norwich City had placed a price tag exceeding £40 million on him, despite the player having only 12 months remaining on his contract.

Cantwell has requested a transfer from Ibrox, and it was revealed that he will not play another match for Rangers this season. He has been training away from the first team, indicating a clear intent to move on from the Glasgow club.

The 26-year-old midfielder, having previously expressed contentment with his time at Rangers, is now pursuing a new challenge. His decision comes after 64 appearances and 14 goals during his a season-and-a-half stint in Glasgow.

Reports have emerged that Cantwell has agreed to join Blackburn Rovers for a mere fee of £500,000. Furthermore, he has come to terms with taking a wage cut in order to facilitate the transfer.

Despite the wage reduction, it is claimed that Cantwell’s new contract at Blackburn will still represent a substantial salary when compared to the club’s overall finances.

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is also looking to strengthen his squad before the upcoming transfer deadline, with several players being linked to a move to Ibrox.
