Toronto FC Signs Jesús Batiz on Short-Term Deal for Canadian Championship Clash
Toronto FC has made a significant move by signing forward Jesús Batiz to a short-term deal for their upcoming Canadian Championship match against CS Saint-Laurent. This agreement falls under MLS rules allowing clubs to bring in players on loan from their MLS NEXT Pro affiliate for specific competitions.
Jesús Batiz, aged 24, joined Toronto FC II in March 2023 and quickly made an impact, showcasing his skills in the MLS NEXT Pro matches. With five appearances, Batiz has found the back of the net twice and provided two assists for the Young Reds, solidifying his place in the squad.
Hailing from Tela, Honduras, Batiz previously had stints with Rochester New York FC in MLS NEXT Pro in 2022 and also featured for New Amsterdam FC in the National Independent Soccer Association in 2021. His versatile playing style and attacking prowess have seen him progress through the ranks, ultimately earning a spot in Toronto FC’s First Team.
Having made his debut for Toronto FC II against FC Cincinnati 2, Batiz continued to impress, which led to his inclusion in the senior team. In 2023, he gained valuable experience by playing a total of 121 minutes across three matches, including facing tough opponents like Orlando City.
