At least 33 individuals have lost their lives in a devastating fire incident at a popular gaming zone in Rajkot, Gujarat. The incident, described as a ‘man-made disaster’ by the Gujarat High Court, occurred due to welding work being conducted at the venue. Investigations are currently underway, with two individuals already arrested and a FIR lodged against six individuals.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi visited the site of the tragedy to assess the situation. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to coordinate efforts with the local administration in Rajkot.
The bodies of the victims were severely charred and beyond recognition, leading authorities to collect DNA samples from both the deceased and their families for identification purposes. Meanwhile, a separate tragic incident unfolded in east Delhi‘s Vivek Vihar with a massive fire engulfing a children’s hospital.
