2024 WAEC Results Released Today

The West African Examinations Council, commonly known as WAEC, has officially released the results for the 2024 WASSCE exams today, August 12, 2024. This announcement brings great news for students across West Africa who have been eagerly waiting to see how they performed.

For students who took the exams, this is the moment they’ve been waiting for. WAEC has made it easier for candidates to check their results with a streamlined process, whether online or through SMS.

In a statement, Amos Dangut, WAEC’s Head of Nigeria Organisation, shared that this was the first examination conducted under his leadership, and he deemed it a success. He noted that out of the 1,805,216 candidates registered, 1,685,889 results were released, which is about 93.9 percent.

However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. The results showed that 215,267, or roughly 11.92 percent of candidates, had their results withheld due to examination malpractice. This year also saw a slight drop in performance, with 72.9 percent of students achieving credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English.

Despite facing challenges like security issues and other logistical problems, WAEC is hopeful that the release of these results will help candidates make informed decisions about their future, whether in education or employment.
