Fatal Shooting at LAUTECH Campus Sparks Student Protest in Ogbomoso

Tragedy struck the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) campus in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, on Tuesday, as a student was fatally shot by an unidentified security agent. The incident also left two other students wounded in the chaos that ensued.

According to reports, the security agent was involved in mediating a dispute between two individuals on the school premises when the situation escalated quickly. In an attempt to disperse the crowd, the officer allegedly fired shots into the air, resulting in the tragic death of the student and the injury of two others.

In response to the shooting, students of LAUTECH took to the streets in protest, barricading the school gates and calling for justice for the deceased student. The campus was enveloped in pandemonium as the students demanded accountability for the actions of the security agent.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson of the Oyo State Police Command, SP Adewale Osifeso, assured that an investigation was already underway. He stated that updates on the investigation would be provided as progress was made in unraveling the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
