Finalists Revealed for Dolly Parton Biomusical Auditions

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The search for the lead role in the upcoming biomusical “Dolly: An Original Musical” has narrowed down to 15 finalists, following a national online casting call. The finalists will compete in-person for the chance to portray the iconic country music star Dolly Parton during auditions in New York City, with final selections yet to be announced.
The musical, which aims for a pre-Broadway world premiere at the Fisher Center for the Performing Arts starting July 18, 2025, features an official opening night planned for August 8. It will run until August 17, with Tony Award winner at the helm of the production.
The finalists, who embody diverse backgrounds and geographic locations, include: Kathryn Adeline, Peri Barnhill, Elyse Bell, and Annelise Laakko from New York City; Alberta Brown from Halifax, Canada; Haley Brown from Los Angeles; Kylee Hennes from Richfield, Wisconsin; Tasha Lefler from Newport, Tennessee; Solo Lowit from Milton, Georgia; Kindred Moore from New York City; Norah Nunes from Houston, Texas; Kelly O’Brien from Aldbury, United Kingdom; Cecilia Petrush from New York City; and Madeline Powell from New York City.
Parton, at a recent press event, revealed her excitement for the project, stating she has penned ‘a whole lot’ of new, original songs for the show. In addition to these new tracks, audiences can anticipate a selection from Parton’s vast repertoire, which includes numerous hits from her illustrious career as an 11-time Grammy winner. Maria S. Schlatter is collaborating with Parton on the musical’s book.
The casting call and upcoming auditions underscore the highly anticipated nature of this production, which seeks to celebrate the life and contributions of one of country music’s most beloved figures. As the project unfolds, entertainment venues will likely keep a close watch on its evolution towards Broadway.
