A section of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has been affected by a fire incident, announced by Anthony Chiejina, the spokesperson of Dangote Industries Limited on Wednesday. The fire outbreak was specifically at the effluent treatment plant (ETP) but has been successfully controlled.

The effluent treatment plant (ETP) is an essential part of wastewater management, engineered to purify industrial wastewater for reuse. Chiejina reassured the public that the incident was minor in nature and did not result in any injuries to the staff. The refinery operations remained intact even after the incident.

Dangote Industries Limited, under the leadership of Aliko Dangote, established the refinery that started diesel and aviation fuel production earlier this year. The capacity of the refinery is 650,000 barrels per day (bpd) and was inaugurated by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
