PHILADELPHIA, PA — The Philadelphia Eagles triumphed over the Kansas City Chiefs, 40-22, in Super Bowl LIX, marking the franchise’s second Super Bowl title. Among the victorious squad were two former Indianapolis Colts players, wide receiver Parris Campbell and cornerback Isaiah Rodgers, who celebrated their first championship ring on Sunday night.
Campbell began his NFL journey with the Colts, drafted in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. After four seasons in Indianapolis, where he appeared in 32 games, recording 983 receiving yards, 97 receptions, and five touchdowns, he signed with the New York Giants in 2023. Campbell made the transition to Philadelphia as the 2024 season commenced, contributing to the Eagles’ championship run.
Rodgers, selected in the sixth round of the 2020 draft, also kicked off his career with the Colts. He spent his first three seasons in Indianapolis, playing 45 games, recording three interceptions, and six pass breakups. His career took a pause in 2023 due to a suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. Following a year out, Rodgers rejoined the league with the Eagles and made a significant impact during their Super Bowl victory.
In his first season with Philadelphia, Rodgers participated in 15 regular-season games and three playoff games. He showcased his defensive skills by allowing just 18 receptions on 35 targets, alongside five pass breakups.
“I ain’t BET this time but I would’ve BET on myself,” Rodgers stated after the win. “I guess you can say life’s a gamble. From the bet slips to the next chip.”
The Eagles’ success can also be attributed to head coach Nick Sirianni, a former Colts offensive coordinator. This championship represents Sirianni’s inaugural Super Bowl victory as a head coach. He was joined by other former Colts coaches like tight ends coach Jason Michael and running backs coach Jemal Singleton, both of whom contributed to the Eagles’ success this season.
Although the Colts did not hoist the Lombardi Trophy this year, their alumni played pivotal roles in achieving victory with the Eagles, demonstrating the lasting impact of Indianapolis on the NFL landscape.
