Gian Piero Gasperini Reflects on Atalanta’s Performance Despite Recent Loss
Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini expressed his thoughts following the team’s recent match, highlighting both the strengths and weaknesses observed during the game.
Gasperini acknowledged that the team suffered due to some mistakes made on the pitch, particularly during their loss to Torino. He noted that La Dea is still working on achieving continuity after the strong finish to the previous season.
During the match, Atalanta conceded an equalizing goal shortly after scoring, yet Gasperini was pleased with how his players maintained their composure throughout the game. He emphasized that the result was influenced by specific incidents on the field.
Reflecting on the team’s current situation, Gasperini pointed out the significant number of absentees compared to their last match in June and mentioned the need for improvement before the Champions League matches begin.
With regard to the team’s attacking options, Gasperini noted that Charles De Ketelaere is the only attacker remaining from last season, while expressing frustration over missed scoring opportunities during the game against Torino.
When questioned about upcoming transfers, including Rui Patricio and Juan Cuadrado, Gasperini stated he would provide an update later in the week. He highlighted the uncertainty that still surrounds the squad’s depth and readiness for the tightly packed schedule ahead.
In his remarks about De Ketelaere’s performance, Gasperini acknowledged that while the young player played well, he faltered in crucial finishing moments against the Torino goalkeeper.
Additionally, the decision to exclude new signing Raoul Bellanova from the squad was a calculated choice to avoid adding tension to the already charged atmosphere surrounding the match.
