Golden Knights Host Lightning in Thrilling Homestand Finale
Las Vegas, Nevada — The Vegas Golden Knights conclude their season series against the Tampa Bay Lightning Thursday night at 7 p.m. at T-Mobile Arena.
Currently holding a record of 7-2-3, the Golden Knights are coming off a 1-0 victory against the Detroit Red Wings. Ivan Barbashev scored the lone goal, while Akira Schmid earned his first shutout of the season, stopping all 24 shots he faced.
As part of the event, the Golden Knights will conduct their annual Canned Food Drive on Toshiba Plaza from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fans who donate nonperishable food items will receive a specialty poster, courtesy of Nacho Daddy.
This matchup marks a critical point in the Golden Knights’ homestand, which consists of six games. They aim for a victory that would mark their 369th win in franchise history and improve their record against the Lightning to 9-6-1.
The Lightning are currently 6-5-2 and sit fifth in the Atlantic Division. Their recent outing included a 3-2 loss to the Colorado Avalanche, which halted a five-game winning streak. Brayden Point made headlines by scoring his 200th career even-strength goal in the same game.
Head Coach Bruce Cassidy emphasized the importance of special teams, noting that the Golden Knights have effectively killed off 18 of their last 20 penalties. Cassidy believes successful penalty kills can demoralize opponents and bolster team momentum.
In terms of individual milestones, several players are on the cusp of significant career achievements. A Golden Knights win against the Lightning would also give them a solid 5-1-1 home record this season.
