As of October 1, 2024, Grand Canyon National Park has reopened its campgrounds and lodges following a major flood event that affected the area. The North Rim of the park is also open for the season, providing visitors with a range of activities and scenic views.

For those planning to hike, it is advisable to avoid hiking into the canyon between 10 am and 4 pm to reduce heat risk. The park’s inner canyon drinking water availability and weather forecast are also crucial to check before embarking on any hiking trails.

Visitors can explore the Grand Canyon through various guided tours, including those offered by Pink Adventure Tours. These tours use open-air Pink Jeep Wranglers and are led by local guides who provide unique insights into the park’s history and landmarks. The tours include complimentary admission to the IMAX movie “Grand Canyon: Rivers of Time,” which offers a cinematic journey through 1.7 billion years of the canyon’s history.

The South Rim of the Grand Canyon is particularly popular, with attractions such as Hermits Rest and the historic Grand Canyon Village. Hikers can choose from trails that wind below the canyon’s rim, offering breathtaking views and an immersive experience of the park’s legendary history.

In terms of safety, the park remains in stage 1 fire restrictions year-round, requiring campfires to be in designated fire rings within maintained campgrounds. Inner canyon backcountry users are allowed to use gas cook stoves, but campfires and other open fires are strictly prohibited below the canyon rim.
