PJ Haggerty Withdraws from NBA Draft, Joins Kansas State

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Former Memphis Tigers point guard PJ Haggerty has officially withdrawn from the 2025 NBA Draft and committed to Kansas State University for the upcoming season. Haggerty made this announcement on May 26, 2025, after not receiving the feedback he had hoped for from NBA scouts.
Rated as the No. 2 transfer in the portal, Haggerty averaged 21.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game last season with Memphis, leading the team to the NCAA Tournament. He earned the title of AAC Player of the Year and was recognized as a consensus second-team All-American.
Initially considered a strong candidate to turn pro, Haggerty, who was previously seeking a NIL deal worth between $4 million and $5 million, ultimately decided to return to college basketball after evaluating his options. Reports indicated that despite his prolific scoring and solid performance at the NBA Draft Combine, he did not appear on the mock drafts of major media outlets.
Haggerty began his collegiate career at TCU before transferring to Tulsa, where he earned unanimous AAC Freshman of the Year honors. He is now set to play for head coach Jerome Tang at Kansas State, who is looking to revitalize the program after consecutive seasons without an NCAA Tournament appearance.
Haggerty’s commitment is a significant boost for Kansas State as they prepare for a transitional season. The Wildcats are banking on Haggerty’s proven scoring ability and versatility to enhance their roster.
“PJ is a tremendous athlete and a great fit for our program,” said head coach Jerome Tang. “His experience and skills will be invaluable as we aim for success this season.”
In the 2024-25 season, Haggerty transitioned from a shooting guard role with the Tigers to point guard, which he intends to play primarily at Kansas State. His shooting efficiency last season was impressive, with him recording 47.6% from the field and 81.8% from the free-throw line.
As Haggerty looks ahead to his fourth season in college basketball, his addition is expected to make a significant impact on the court as Kansas State aims to return to national prominence.
