Japanese actor Hiroyuki Sanada and the FX series ‘Shōgun‘ have made a significant impact in the latest nominations for the Critics Choice TV Awards. The series, which has already garnered numerous accolades, including 18 Emmy awards, has secured six nominations for the upcoming Critics Choice Awards set to take place on January 12, 2025.

Sanada, who plays the role of Lord Toranaga in ‘Shōgun,’ is nominated for Best Actor in a Drama Series. His co-stars Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano, Takehiro Hira, and Moeka Hoshi are also nominated in various categories, including Best Actress in a Drama Series and Best Supporting Actor and Actress in a Drama Series.

‘Shōgun’ leads the pack with the most nominations, followed by six series that each received four nominations: ‘Abbott Elementary,’ ‘Disclaimer,’ ‘Hacks,’ ‘The Diplomat,’ ‘The Penguin,’ and ‘What We Do in the Shadows.’ The awards ceremony will air live on E at 7 p.m. on January 12, 2025.

This recognition is a continuation of the success ‘Shōgun’ has seen, including its recent Emmy wins and Sanada’s ongoing victory tour, which has taken him to various locations, including Toruń, Poland.
