Hurricanes Prepare for Avalanche with Lineup Changes
DENVER – The Carolina Hurricanes face off against the Colorado Avalanche tonight at 9:00 p.m. MDT, aiming to extend multiple point streaks.
Seth Jarvis and Sebastian Aho lead the Hurricanes with nine and eight points, respectively. Jarvis is looking to make history, as this is his first six-game point streak to start a season. Notably, he became the first player in NHL history to score four game-winning goals in the first five games of a season.
After missing last game, Shayne Gostisbehere won’t play this road trip, prompting a lineup shift. Charles Alexis Legault will make his second NHL appearance, having skated with Mike Reilly against Vegas before today’s morning session where he practiced alongside rookie Alexander Nikishin.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi is also set to join the second power play unit, taking over the role previously held by Reilly.
As for the starting goaltender, there is uncertainty. Frederik Andersen did not participate in the morning skate, but the coaching staff might still choose to rotate goalies, giving Brandon Bussi another chance. Bussi has a perfect 2-0 record in his first NHL appearances, having secured wins against San Jose and Los Angeles.
For tonight’s matchup, the projected lineup for the Hurricanes includes forwards Ehlers, Aho, Jarvis, Hall, Stankoven, Martinook, Staal, Carrier, Svechnikov, Kotkaniemi, and Robinson. The defensive lineup consists of Miller, Walker, Reilly, Chatfield, Nikishin, and Legault.
Injuries include Shayne Gostisbehere, Pyotr Kochetkov, and Jaccob Slavin. The game will be streamed via Carolina Hurricanes’ platform.
