Ke Huy Quan 2025 Interview Empire Magazine

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — Fresh off his Oscar-winning comeback, Ke Huy Quan is ready to embrace a new challenge: playing the bad guy. The actor, who won Best Supporting Actor for his role in *Everything Everywhere All at Once* (2022), revealed his desire to take on villainous roles, citing Hugh Grant‘s performance in *Heretic* and classic Bond villains as inspiration.

“I would love to play a bad guy. Like a Bond villain,” Quan told Empire magazine in a recent interview. “Or the kind of thing Hugh Grant does in *Heretic*. I want to go out of my comfort zone and just play this diabolical, really bad guy. That would be a lot of fun.”

Quan, who first gained fame as a child actor in *Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom* (1984) and *The Goonies* (1985), has spent decades working behind the scenes as a stunt coordinator and fight choreographer for films like *X-Men* (2000) and *The One* (2001). Now, he aims to redefine his career by showcasing his versatility as an actor.

“I don’t want to be perceived as an action star,” Quan said. “I hope I’m perceived as an actor who does action well. The best part about being an actor is, you get to play a variety of different characters.” He highlighted the contrast between his roles as Waymond in *Everything Everywhere All at Once*, Ouroboros in *Loki*, and Marvin Gable in the upcoming action thriller *Love Hurts*.

In *Love Hurts*, set to premiere on Feb. 7, Quan plays a retired hitman-turned-realtor. The film, directed by Jonathan Eusebio, marks another step in Quan’s journey to explore diverse characters. He has also been cast in an untitled action thriller where he portrays a cab driver who takes on a gang of criminals to retrieve his children’s stolen Christmas presents.

Quan’s career resurgence has been celebrated by fans and critics alike. His performance in *Everything Everywhere All at Once* earned him not only an Oscar but also a Golden Globe. As he continues to take on new challenges, Quan remains committed to pushing boundaries and defying expectations.

“Let the cinematic multiverse unfold,” Quan said with a laugh, reflecting on his diverse roles and future aspirations.
