India Clinch Victory Against Nepal To Secure Spot In U19 World Cup Semi Finals

India‘s Under-19 cricket team emerged victorious against Nepal in a thrilling encounter at the U19 Cricket World Cup. After losing two early wickets, India managed to regain control of the match through a remarkable partnership between captain Uday Saharan and Sachin Dhas. Their fantastic 215-run stand helped India rebuild and set a formidable total of 297/5, making it the highest partnership for India in the U19 World Cup.

Nepal started their innings cautiously but were eventually undone by the skillful bowling of Saumy Pandey, supported by Raj Limbani, Arshin Kulkarni, and Murugan Abhishek. Nepal went from 48/0 to 77/7, struggling to cope with the Indian bowling attack. Despite a resilient effort from their tailenders, Nepal could only manage to play out their full 50 overs, ending the match with a 132-run defeat against India.

This victory has propelled India into the semi-finals of the U19 World Cup 2024, where they will go up against hosts South Africa. Sachin Dhas was awarded the Player of the Match for his outstanding century during the game. Unfortunately, unfavorable weather conditions led to the abandonment of the match between West Indies and Australia in Kimberley.

Meanwhile, in another match, South Africa secured their place in the U19 World Cup semi-finals with an impressive 119-run victory over Sri Lanka. Kwena Maphaka and Riley Norton played instrumental roles in South Africa’s win, sharing a total of 10 wickets between them. South Africa’s aggressive openers got off to a strong start but faced a temporary setback due to some brilliant fielding by the Sri Lankans. However, a remarkable recovery by the tailenders helped South Africa reach a competitive total of 232/8.

Kwena Maphaka continued his thrilling form with the ball, ripping through the Sri Lankan top-order and ultimately finishing with a five-wicket haul. Riley Norton also made valuable contributions, aiding in the efficient wrap-up of the Sri Lankan innings. With their comprehensive win, South Africa secured their ticket to the U19 World Cup semi-finals.
