Inter Milan's Dominance Continues: Inter Defeats Lecce In Serie A Clash

Inter Milan continued their stellar run with a convincing victory over Lecce in a tense Serie A encounter at the Stadio Via del Mare. The league leaders showcased their prowess once more following a hard-fought Champions League win against Atletico Madrid.

The match saw key changes in the Inter lineup, with Emil Audero stepping in as the goalkeeper alongside Alexis Sanchez partnering with Lautaro Martinez in the attacking front. The absence of Marcus Thuram, Francesco Acerbi, Stefano Sensi, and Juan Cuadrado posed challenges, offering lesser-experienced players like Davide Frattesi and Kristjan Asllani opportunities to shine.

Yann Sommer, the usual first-choice goalkeeper for Inter, missed the game due to flu symptoms, granting Audero his Serie A debut. Hakan Calhanoglu, Nicolò Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni also had well-needed rest, allowing Carlos Augusto to fill in the gaps in defense.

Lecce, on the other hand, faced hurdles with suspensions to key players like Marin Pongracic and Patrick Dorgu, while Kastriot Dermaku remained sidelined with a long-term injury. Federico Baschirotto overcame a bout of flu to start for Lecce, who also welcomed back William Banda to the squad.

The lineup for Lecce featured Falcone; Gendrey, Baschirotto, Touba, Gallo; Blin, Ramadani, Rafia; Almqvist, Piccoli, Sansone. Inter’s starting XI included Audero; Bisseck, De Vrij, Carlos Augusto; Dumfries, Frattesi, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dimarco; Sanchez, Lautaro Martinez.
