JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jaguars head coach Liam Coen confirmed Monday that the team has no plans to trade wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., despite his slow start this season.

Coen’s statement comes ahead of the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 4. Thomas has struggled through the first seven games, gathering only 27 receptions for 365 yards and one touchdown, well below his rookie campaign numbers where he logged 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns.

“I’ve got a lot of confidence in him,” Coen said. “It’s just a good reset for a lot of these guys. We’re 4-3 with everything ahead of us. Regardless of what’s happened in the first seven games, we all have an opportunity to write a narrative.”

While Thomas leads the Jaguars in receiving yards, he is tied for second in the NFL with five dropped passes. These struggles have led to speculation about his future with the franchise.

Coen reassured that they believe Thomas is crucial to their offensive strategy, stating, “We have no plans on moving Brian Thomas at all.” Thomas finished his rookie season with impressive stats, leading all rookies in receiving yards, and it is anticipated that he can rebound in the second half of the current season.

The 2025 NFL season has not gone as planned for Thomas, who needs to improve quickly to help the Jaguars remain competitive in the AFC South. The team is currently in the playoff hunt, holding the final wild card spot. They will face the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, giving Thomas a chance to turn his performance around after the team’s bye week.
