Joe Biden’s NATO Summit Performance Scrutinized

During Thursday’s NATO summit, all eyes were on the two press conferences held by President Joe Biden, a critical moment for the Democratic presidential candidate whose cognitive abilities have come into question by colleagues and opponents alike. Any missteps were bound to be highlighted, and indeed, there were a few, including mistaking the President of Ukraine for the Russian President and confusing his Vice President Kamala Harris with his political rival Donald Trump.

Journalist Élisabeth Crête provides an update on the situation with Sonia Dridi, a Washington correspondent and author of ‘Joe Biden, the Bet of Anti-Trump America‘.

When asked to rate Joe Biden’s performance out of 10, Dridi stated, ‘I think I would give him a six out of ten. He barely passes. Honestly, opinions are extremely divided, and to be completely honest, it seems that those who already thought he should drop out of the race haven’t really changed their minds […] And those who believe he should continue because they see no alternative say that he gave a press conference with very strong knowledge on foreign affairs, notably.’

Dridi highlights Biden’s strength in international affairs but notes a visible decline in his overall demeanor, stating, ‘We still saw a Joe Biden who is increasingly weaker. That’s why, yes, he passes, but it wasn’t outstanding either. The goal was really to reassure Democrats and donors. And from what I hear, some donors say, well, that’s reassuring, while others still want him to leave and withdraw.’
