Joshua Benjamin Green, an Australian professional basketball player, has recently made headlines with his transition to the Charlotte Hornets. Born on November 16, 2000, in Sydney, Australia, Green’s journey to the NBA is marked by his early prowess in multiple sports. His parents, Cahla and Delmas, both semi-professional basketball players, introduced him to the sport at the age of five. Green quickly excelled, representing New South Wales in nine different sports by the age of 10.

Green’s high school career was split between Australia and the United States. He attended The King's School in Parramatta before moving to Phoenix, Arizona, and later transferring to the IMG Academy in Florida. At IMG, he led the team to a national championship victory and was named MVP of the championship game. His performance earned him a spot in the 2019 McDonald’s All-American Boys Game.

Green played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats before being drafted into the NBA. He initially joined the Dallas Mavericks and recently signed a three-year, $41 million extension. However, on July 6, 2024, he was traded to the Charlotte Hornets as part of the NBA’s first six-team transaction, which also involved the Philadelphia 76ers, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, and Minnesota Timberwolves.

In addition to his club career, Green has made significant contributions to the Australian national team. He helped Australia secure their first-ever Olympic medal in men’s basketball by winning bronze at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Despite an early setback due to a torn labrum in his right shoulder, Green has been a key player in various international competitions.

Recently, Green played in the 2024 NBA Finals with the Mavericks, although they lost to the Boston Celtics in five games. His current role with the Charlotte Hornets marks a new chapter in his professional career, where he will look to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
