Josh Myers Joins Jets on One-Year Deal Worth $3.5 Million

NEW YORK, NY – The New York Jets have signed former Green Bay Packers center Josh Myers to a one-year contract valued at $3.5 million, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. The move marks a significant addition to the Jets’ offensive line as they seek to bolster their protection for quarterback Justin Fields.
Myers, 26, was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Packers and has established himself as a reliable starter, playing 60 games throughout his career, including the playoffs. His tenure in Green Bay included starting all 17 games in both the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
Despite his performance, which included allowing just one sack in the 2024 season, the Packers opted not to pursue a contract extension. Instead, they signed guard Aaron Banks to a four-year deal worth $77 million, shifting Elgton Jenkins to the center position to fill Myers’ spot.
“Josh brings a wealth of experience and toughness to the Jets,” said general manager Joe Douglas. “His ability to play through injuries speaks volumes about his character.” In his final two seasons in Green Bay, Myers missed only one game due to a wrist injury, demonstrating his resilience on the field.
In New York, Myers will reunite with Fields, his former college quarterback at Ohio State. The pair played together during their collegiate careers, and this connection could prove beneficial as they aim to synchronize their on-field strategies.
Throughout his time in Green Bay, Myers has faced numerous challenges, including a knee injury early in his rookie season, which delayed his entry into the starting lineup. He was named a Pro Bowl alternate in 2024 for his contributions to the offensive line despite these setbacks.
“I’m excited for this new chapter with the Jets,” said Myers after signing. “Reuniting with Justin adds an extra layer of familiarity that I think will help both of us as we work together.”
Myers’ signing is part of a busy day for the Jets, who are actively working to enhance their roster ahead of the new season. As free agency progresses, Myers’ addition is expected to make an immediate impact on the team’s offensive capabilities.
