Kerala Blasters FC Provides Injury Updates on Luna and Diamantakos Ahead of Crucial Match
Kerala Blasters FC revealed the latest updates on their players as they gear up for a crucial Indian Super League (ISL) encounter against Hyderabad FC. The club confirmed that midfielder Adrian Luna is on track to return to action, while forward Dimitrios Diamantakos will miss the upcoming match.
The Blasters are preparing to face Hyderabad FC in their final league fixture with a focus on ending their winless streak in the past five matches. Diamantakos sustained an injury during the team’s recent game against East Bengal FC and will be sidelined for the upcoming clash. Luna, who has been training with the squad since March after a lengthy injury layoff, is expected to feature in the match.
In their last outing, Diamantakos was substituted off at half-time due to an injury, and he did not travel with the squad to Guwahati for the subsequent match against NorthEast United FC. Alongside Diamantakos, Luna and midfielder Fedor Cernych were absent in that game due to injuries picked up earlier.
The absence of Diamantakos, who has been a key player for the club this season with 13 goals, presents a challenge for Kerala Blasters FC. Head coach Vukomanovic mentioned that Diamantakos is yet to fully resume training with the team, raising doubts about his availability for the playoffs.
Luna, who had been out of action since December due to a knee injury requiring surgery, rejoined the team in March and has been gradually regaining match fitness. The Uruguayan midfielder is poised to make a return against Hyderabad FC, but Vukomanovic expressed caution about rushing his comeback to avoid further complications.
Vukomanovic also highlighted the risk of Luna accumulating yellow cards, which could result in him missing crucial playoff matches if he receives another booking. With Luna sitting on three yellow cards this season, the coaching staff is deliberating on the decision to field him against Hyderabad FC.
Despite the uncertainties surrounding Diamantakos and Luna, the Kerala Blasters FC camp remains optimistic about their prospects as they enter a critical phase of the competition. The team is aiming to secure a positive result against Hyderabad FC before heading into the playoffs.
