Kidnappers Kill Delta DPO and Others in Ambush During Rescue Mission
In a tragic incident, the newly posted Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Agbarho Division in Delta State, along with several of his men, were killed in an ambush by a kidnap syndicate. The attack occurred early in the morning near the Agbarho train station while the police team was on a mission to rescue kidnapped individuals.
The DPO of Agbarho, who had just resumed his duties two days prior to the incident, was among those who lost their lives. The DPO of Orerokpe Division, CSP Paul, who was part of the rescue operation, was also shot and injured. He is currently receiving medical treatment and fighting for his life.
The ambush resulted in an exchange of gunfire between the police officers and the kidnappers, leading to the fatalities. This incident has been described as a devastating blow to the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Police Force.
The news was shared by Delta human rights activist Comrade Israel Joe via a Facebook post, where he expressed deep pain and sorrow over the loss of the officers. He recalled a recent conversation with the Agbarho DPO regarding the conduct of his officers, highlighting the DPO’s commitment to maintaining discipline within his team.
