PRAGUE, Czech Republic — With the highly anticipated release of Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 just weeks away, publisher Deep Silver and developer Warhorse Studios have unveiled a stringent new code of conduct for the game’s Steam forums. The rules aim to curb discrimination, hate speech, and harmful ideologies, warning of permanent bans for violators.

“We are grateful for the vibrant and passionate discussions that take place here,” wrote Warhorse representative PLAION_MY4NH in a forum post. “Your love for this game and its immersive world has forged a unique and thriving community. To ensure that our forums remain a welcoming place for all, we are introducing a new set of community rules designed to maintain smooth moderation and foster meaningful, respectful discussions.”

The guidelines prohibit discrimination in any form, including racism, sexism, and hate speech, while also banning modern political or religious debates. While “occasional swearing” is permitted in the M-rated game’s forums, users are urged to “keep it reasonable.” Violations could result in post deletions, warnings, temporary bans, or permanent expulsion from the community.

The move comes amid heightened scrutiny of the sequel’s content. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, set in 15th-century Europe, has faced backlash from some quarters over claims of an “unskippable” same-sex love scene, prominent Black characters, and discussions of feminism. These controversies echo criticisms leveled at the original game, which was accused of lacking diversity and being overly focused on historical accuracy.

Despite the online drama, early impressions of the game have been largely positive. PC Gamer‘s Fraser Brown described it as “larger, confident, and extremely tactile,” while Joshua Wolens praised its emergent gameplay, likening it to “some of the best parts of Stalker.”

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is set to launch on February 4, 2025, and is already one of the most wishlisted games on Steam. The PEGI 18-rated title promises to deliver a rich, immersive RPG experience, building on the success of its predecessor while addressing some of its shortcomings.
