Las Vegas Raiders Secure Defensive Powerhouse In Christian Wilkins Signing

The Las Vegas Raiders have made a significant move during the start of free agency, securing the services of Pro Bowl defensive tackle Christian Wilkins from the Miami Dolphins. The contract is reported to be a four-year deal worth $110 million with $84.75 million guaranteed, as revealed by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport.

Despite a standout season in 2023 for the Dolphins where he achieved career highs in several statistics, Wilkins was allowed to depart Miami. In his fifth NFL season, the 28-year-old recorded nine sacks, 61 QB pressures, 23 QB hits, 65 tackles (10 for losses), one forced fumble, and two fumble recoveries.

Wilkins, ranked second in Gregg Rosenthal’s top free agents list, now joins the Las Vegas Raiders’ defensive line. This move bolsters a defense that already features standout pass rusher Maxx Crosby, who led the league in tackles for loss last season with 23 and recorded 14.5 sacks.

The Raiders, who were ninth in points allowed last season, now boast a formidable defensive front under new head coach Antonio Pierce. Wilkins and Crosby, both durable players, bring a combination of talent and reliability to the Raiders’ defense.

With Wilkins’ departure, the Dolphins face the challenge of filling a significant void on their defensive line. Apart from his on-field contributions, Wilkins was also known for his leadership qualities in the Miami locker room.
