Lebron James Bronny Lawsuit Car Accident

LOS ANGELES, California — NBA stars LeBron James and his son Bronny are currently embroiled in a legal battle following a car accident that occurred on November 13, 2022. Two women, April Almanza Lopez and Kiara Rae McGillen, have filed a lawsuit alleging that their vehicle collided with the James family’s car on a highway in Littlerock, California.

The plaintiffs assert that the accident resulted in significant injuries and damages, seeking compensation for their medical expenses, lost wages, and general damages. According to court documents filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court in October 2024, Lopez has reported medical costs totaling approximately $234,582.22, while McGillen claims expenses of about $48,007.80.

In their lawsuit, Lopez and McGillen allege negligence on the part of LeBron and Bronny, asserting they are responsible for the ownership and operation of their vehicle involved in the accident. The women describe suffering from neck, back, and shoulder pain, along with chronic headaches as a result of the collision. They claim their vehicle was damaged to the extent that it is now unusable and has significantly depreciated in value.

Legal representatives for the James family have firmly denied all allegations and claim that any injuries sustained by the plaintiffs were a result of their own actions rather than negligence on behalf of LeBron or Bronny. They argue that the events leading to the accident were unavoidable and do not constitute a breach of duty.

“If plaintiffs suffered any loss or injury, it was proximately caused by their own actions,” their attorney stated in court documents. The defense is seeking the dismissal of the case and a denial of any compensation to Lopez and McGillen.

Notably, the lawsuit was filed hours before LeBron and Bronny made history, becoming the first father-and-son duo to play together in a regular-season NBA game on October 22, 2024. Despite the ongoing legal challenges, LeBron expressed pride in this milestone, emphasizing the importance of the moment during a post-game interview.

The legal proceedings are ongoing, with the next court hearing scheduled for February 19, 2025. Both parties are preparing for the upcoming trial, which aims to resolve the allegations and clarify any potential liabilities stemming from the incident.
