Lebron James G League Practice News

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — LeBron James took another significant step toward his return to the Los Angeles Lakers by practicing with the South Bay Lakers of the G League on Thursday. This follows his first five-on-five play since the playoffs more than six months ago.

James has been sidelined since suffering from sciatica, a nerve condition affecting his lower back and right side, which has kept him out of all training camp and the first 12 games of the season. However, sources told ESPN that his latest practice sessions have been promising, with no lingering pain reported.

Wednesday’s practice was described as “intense,” and by Thursday, James participated fully, completing live drills without any discomfort. South Bay Lakers coach Zach Guthrie noted that the opportunity for his team to have James in practice was both thrilling and beneficial.

The Lakers are rounding off a five-game road trip, with plans to hold a practice in El Segundo on Monday after returning from their trip. If James continues to progress this weekend, he could join the Lakers for that session and potentially make his season debut against the Utah Jazz on Tuesday.

As the Lakers aim to rebound after a recent rough patch in their schedule, James’ return could significantly impact the team’s performance. Currently, L.A. is 8-4, having faced a tough loss against the Oklahoma City Thunder, where they fell 121-92 on Wednesday.

James, who will be 41 next month, is aiming to make history as the first player to compete in 23 NBA seasons. His last season saw him average 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists, showcasing his enduring talent.

In other updates, the South Bay Lakers recently acquired guard Kobe Bufkin through a trade with the Motor City Cruise, while they waived guard Jace Carter.
