Lenny Kravitz Honored as Music Icon at 2024 People’s Choice Awards
Lenny Kravitz, the legendary rock star, was celebrated and named the People's Music Icon at the prestigious 2024 People's Choice Awards. The ceremony took place in Santa Monica, California, where Kravitz mesmerized the audience with a medley of his iconic hits that spanned his more than 35-year career.
Performing amidst the crowd before making his way to the mainstage, Kravitz kicked off his set with a groovy rendition of ‘Fly Away’ followed by his latest track ‘TK421.’ He then transitioned into the uplifting ‘It Ain’t Over ‘Til It’s Over’ before igniting the stage with ‘Let Love Rule’ and the electrifying ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way.’
During his inspiring acceptance speech for the Music Icon Award, Kravitz emphasized the importance of staying true to oneself and spreading love. He reflected on the term ‘icon’, highlighting the significance of carving a unique path and inspiring others to believe in themselves.
Kravitz advised aspiring artists to defy trends, set their own pace, and embrace the present moment. He concluded his speech by stressing the power of love and unity, proclaiming, ‘We are all one. One God, one people, one planet. Let love rule, y’all.’
Before his captivating performance, Kravitz shared insights into his creative process during an interview with a media outlet. He likened the completion of a musical piece to a feeling, mentioning that he knows a song is finished when it speaks to him as such.
Set to release his 12th studio album, ‘Blue Electric Light,’ on May 24, Kravitz’s accolades have been stacking up, including being honored at the People’s Choice Awards and the Global Impact Award. His musical contributions have also garnered critical acclaim, as seen in his Golden Globe and Critic’s Choice Award nominations for ‘Road to Freedom,’ a song created for the film ‘Rustin.’
The star-studded event, hosted by Simu Liu, saw performances from Kravitz, Kylie Minogue, and Lainey Wilson. The annual People’s Choice Awards recognize excellence in film, TV, music, and pop culture, with winners chosen through public votes.
