Many Cincinnati Reds fans had reservations about Weaver, recalling his challenging 2023 season with the team. Despite those concerns, Weaver has excelled in high-pressure situations against formidable opponents in the playoffs.

During the recent National League Division Series, Weaver faced five batters across two games. The pitcher proved his prowess by striking out three batters, allowing no walks or hits, and even securing a save. His performance in the regular season was commendable, boasting a 7-3 record and a 2.89 ERA across a career-high 62 appearances with 103 strikeouts over 84 innings.
