Lumenate and John Lennon Estate Collaborate on Meditative Remixes of Mind Games for Mental Health Awareness Month

The John Lennon Estate and a mindfulness app have teamed up to offer a unique twist on John Lennon’s hit song Mind Games. The collaboration features nine revitalized versions of the iconic track, designed to promote relaxation and mental well-being.

Launched in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the reimagined mixes utilize a fusion of sound and light technology. Lumenate, the app behind the project, employs smartphone flashlights to create light sequences that synchronize with the remixed tracks, aiming to induce a meditative state.

These revamped tracks take Lennon’s original composition, slowing it down and extending its duration, providing listeners with an immersive and transformative listening experience. Additionally, four mixes are labeled ‘Binaural,’ employing distinct frequencies in each ear to create an auditory illusion that targets specific brainwaves linked to various mental states.

Sean Ono Lennon, the son of John Lennon, actively participated in the project, expressing his enthusiasm for the endeavor. Collaborating with Lumenate, he shared his personal connection to meditation and his positive experiences using the app for his own meditation practices.

Sean Ono Lennon remarked that his father, renowned for his interest in meditation, had introduced him to the concept of stroboscopic brain wave induction through a ‘flicker machine.’ This personal history inspired the combination of Mind Games’ music with Lumenate’s scientific approach to create a novel experience for listeners.

Lumenate co-founder Tom Galea also expressed his excitement about the collaboration, highlighting the profound and relaxing journeys the mixes offer. The initiative aims to make altered states of consciousness more accessible, aligning with the growing interest in mental well-being and mindfulness practices.

Rosamund Pike, a Golden Globe-winning actress known for her roles in films like Gone Girl and Saltburn, serves as the Creative Director and voice of the Lumenate app. The partnership between the John Lennon Estate and Lumenate represents a broader trend of incorporating wellness and meditation apps into the music industry.

This innovative collaboration follows a series of recent partnerships within the music sector, such as Endel‘s collaboration with Spinnin’ Records and Warner Music‘s engagement with British health tech startup MediMusic. These initiatives underscore the industry’s exploration of music’s therapeutic potential and its capacity to enhance mental well-being.

This groundbreaking project not only revitalizes a classic song but also underscores the intersection of music, art, and technology in promoting holistic well-being and mental health awareness.
