Manchester United Duo Make Impact As England Opens Euro 2024 With Narrow Win

Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Jude Bellingham played key roles as England kicked off their Euro 2024 campaign with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Serbia. Mainoo made his competitive debut, replacing Bellingham late in the game, who scored the decisive goal after a cross from Bukayo Saka.

Conor Gallagher and Jarrod Bowen also contributed off the bench, with Bowen coming close to setting up a second goal with a cross to Harry Kane, whose header was saved by Predrag Rajković. Luke Shaw, another United player, remained on the sidelines as an unused substitute.

In a thrilling second match of the day, Christian Eriksen shone for Denmark, scoring a brilliant goal against Slovenia in their 1-1 draw. Eriksen’s goal showcased his skill as he finished off a lovely passing sequence to put Denmark ahead.

Rasmus Hojlund, another talent from Manchester United, also featured in the Denmark match, coming close to scoring but being denied by Slovenia’s goalkeeper Jan Oblak.

Meanwhile, former United striker Wout Weghorst found the net for the Netherlands, securing a late win with a goal against Poland in their Group D clash.
