Manchester United Eyes Noussair Mazraoui After West Ham Deal Falls Through

Published

Manchester United is making a move to bring in Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. They are looking to seal a deal that could cost between £15 million and £20 million. However, there’s a bit of a snag: United needs to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka first to raise the funds needed for Mazraoui’s transfer.

Interestingly, it was West Ham that was originally in the running to sign Mazraoui. Unfortunately for them, that deal collapsed, and now they are setting their sights on bringing in Wan-Bissaka. Talks about a price that works for both sides are still on the table.

Previously, West Ham and Bayern agreed on a transfer fee of £12.6 million plus £2.3 million in potential add-ons for Mazraoui. Erik ten Hag, the United manager, has a good background with Mazraoui, having coached him at Ajax. The two worked together during a successful run that included winning titles.

For the transaction to be finalized, Wan-Bissaka needs to be sold off. United initially aimed for around £20 million for him but has now lowered their asking price to £15 million. Wan-Bissaka still has a year left on his contract, and it appears he’s part of the travel squad for United’s preseason tour.

United is also facing challenges on the left-back front. Their key player, Luke Shaw, is not on the current US tour because he’s tied up with the European Championship, and has a history of injuries. Tyrell Malacia, the backup left-back, was out all of last season due to a knee injury and is currently undergoing rehabilitation.

With all these moving pieces, United might have to dive into the market for a left-back, but like with the Mazraoui deal, they must first make some sales to gather funds. Meanwhile, Ten Hag is keeping an eye on the health of Rasmus Højlund and Leny Yoro after they recently suffered injuries during a match at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
