Marco Island Events Highlight April Activities and Community Engagement

MARCO ISLAND, Fla. — The Marco Island Police Foundation is set to host its next “Lunch with the Chief” at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 1. The event will feature Kristin Zinman, former police chief of Aurora, Illinois, who will discuss the tragic mass shooting at Henry Pratt Company, where five people, including police officers, were shot.

Residents of Bonita Springs will have the opportunity to safely dispose of household chemical waste during a collection event from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, April 2. This event will be hosted at the Bonita Springs Recreation Center, 26740 Pine Ave, and offers a drive-through process for ease of disposal at no charge for residents. The initiative is a collaboration between Lee County Solid Waste and the City of Bonita Springs.
Attendees will be able to dispose of items such as paints, cleaners, and pesticides. Businesses requiring chemical waste disposal must schedule an appointment by contacting MXI Environmental Services at 276-477-0947.
The Marco Island Center for the Arts will feature a Musical Interludes series with performances on April 3, starting with Jodi Keogan at 5:30 p.m. Keogan, a classically trained soprano, will be followed by Glenn Roth, known for his mesmerizing fingerstyle guitar playing. John Denver tribute artist Tom Becker will perform with Country Roads on April 3 as part of the Marco Island Historical Society’s World Class Entertainment Series, with tickets set at $50 per person. Music fans can look forward to seeing the country band Rascal Flatts on April 3 at Hertz Arena, Estero, though ticket information is still pending. Additionally, a “Columbus Tribute Concert Series” featuring Caribbean Chillers, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band, is set for April 4 at San Marco Parish Hall, with general admission tickets priced at $52 and premium reserved seating at $60.
The Taste of Gulf Coast Town Center will take place from noon to 3 p.m. on April 5, featuring signature dishes from local restaurants and live music by The Collaboration Band at Gulf Coast Town Center, 10037 Gulf Center Drive in Fort Myers.
On April 12, the annual Easter Egg Hunt in Riverside Park will offer fun for all ages with eggs hidden throughout the park. This free event begins at 10 a.m. and is designed for children from 1 to 10 years old.
Furthermore, Marco Island will host its annual Sunrise Service on the beach at 7 a.m. Sunday, April 20. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to the JW Marriott Marco Island.
The Estero Historical Society will also hold a special fundraising concert titled “Mud and Blues – Local Tales From the Swamp” on April 26, featuring the Swamp Blues Band. The concert will take place at Country Creek, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m.
