Margot Robbie Pregnancy Announcement

Australian actress Margot Robbie and her husband Tom Ackerley are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their first child. The couple, who both turned 34 this year, have publicly shared their excitement as they approach this significant milestone in their lives. Sources informed PEOPLE magazine in July about the couple’s pregnancy, emphasizing their long-held desire to become parents.

“Margot absolutely can’t wait,” shared an insider with PEOPLE. “They have wanted to be parents for a really long time and are so happy.” An additional source confirmed that starting a family has been an important goal for Robbie and Ackerley since early in their relationship.

The pregnancy news, which the couple had initially kept secret, was speculated by some in Robbie’s circle, including the mother of one of her co-stars from the film Barbie. The speculation was later confirmed, much to the joy of their family and friends.

Despite the joy surrounding their announcement, Robbie has unfortunately faced body-shaming and scrutiny about her appearance during pregnancy. As per a report, social media comments have been particularly harsh, reflecting a broader issue of digital misogyny and unrealistic expectations regarding pregnant bodies.

Prominent voices, such as former tennis player and author Jelena Dokic, have criticized the harsh online comments. “Margot Robbie is being body-shamed, and it’s unacceptable,” Dokic expressed. This situation highlights the ongoing struggles that women face with societal expectations about physical appearance, even during pregnancy.

Dr. Nicole Highet, founder and executive director of the Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE), stated that body-shaming incidents are increasing, amplified by the anonymity provided by social media. Highet emphasized the harmful impact such interactions can have on emotional and mental health, particularly during periods sensitive to body image fluctuations.

In response to such trolling, Helen Bird from the Butterfly Foundation advises women to seek support and engage with realistic portrayals of pregnancy. Bird noted that avoiding toxic media content and confronting insensitive remarks can help manage personal wellbeing.

For further support related to eating disorders or body image issues, resources such as the Butterfly National Helpline are available to assist individuals in navigating these challenges.
