Mark Zuckerberg India Wedding

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, recently garnered attention in India for attending Anant Ambani‘s pre-wedding festivities in Jamnagar. The event was a lavish affair hosted by the Ambani family, known for their opulent celebrations, and took place at their expansive estate. During his visit, Zuckerberg explored the family’s Vantara zoo and enjoyed performances by international artists such as Rihanna and Diljit Dosanjh, along with other esteemed guests.

This visit, however, was not Zuckerberg’s first experience attending an Indian wedding. Back in 2010, Zuckerberg, along with his wife Priscilla Chan, traveled to Goa for the wedding of Facebook employees Aditya Agarwal and Ruchi Sanghvi. Agarwal, who joined Facebook in 2005, was one of the company’s earliest engineers and eventually became its first Director of Product Engineering. He played a crucial role in developing Facebook’s search engine.

The wedding in Goa was a grand celebration, attended by numerous Silicon Valley executives, including former Facebook co-founders Adam D’Angelo and Dustin Moskovitz. For this occasion, Zuckerberg traded his usual casual attire for a traditional silk sherwani, immersing himself fully in the festive spirit.

After their marriage, Agarwal and Sanghvi left Facebook to embark on their own entrepreneurial journey by founding a company named Cove. Despite their departure from Facebook, it is believed that they maintained a connection with Zuckerberg. This bond was evident as recently as August 2024 when Zuckerberg made an appearance at an event organized by Agarwal, who is now the Managing Partner at South Park Commons.

During the event, Agarwal fondly recounted how Zuckerberg had encouraged him to develop Facebook’s search engine, acknowledging its significant impact on the company’s growth. Reflecting on the occasion, Agarwal wrote on social media, “This was the best event we’ve ever hosted at SPC, and that’s a very high bar. It was a privilege to host our old boss and good friend.”
