Martin Odegaard Remains Optimistic Amid Injury Recovery
Arsenal fans may need to adjust their expectations regarding Martin Odegaard‘s return to the field, following a recent update from the Norwegian national team’s manager, Stale Solbakken. Despite this, Odegaard himself has expressed optimism about his recovery process in his latest communication with fans.
In his customary captain’s notes, published in the Arsenal matchday program ahead of the club’s game against Southampton, Odegaard shared insights into his injury rehabilitation. “In the last week or so I’ve made really good progress. I’m getting better and better by the day and feel it’s going well,” he said, emphasizing the motivation derived from his improvement.
While Odegaard remains hopeful, the specific timeline for his return remains uncertain. “Hopefully it won’t be much longer; I think we will know more as soon as I get out on the training pitches and we see how my ankle responds to that,” he noted, pointing to the upcoming international break as a pivotal period for his recovery.
The midfielder also reflected on the team’s recent performances, particularly their strong showing against Paris Saint-Germain. “We gave away hardly anything and it was another solid and strong performance,” he remarked, highlighting the team’s defensive resilience.
Odegaard expressed relief over Arsenal’s success in scoring a direct free-kick, a feat last achieved by him at Burnley some years ago. Despite the limited opportunities for direct free-kick attempts, he acknowledged the importance of converting these chances. “They are hard to score from, but the more you get, the more chance you have,” he stated.
As Arsenal faced their fourth consecutive home game, Odegaard also touched on the return of former teammate Aaron Ramsdale. “It will be good to see Aaron Ramsdale again today. He’s a really great guy who was a big character in the dressing room during his time with us,” Odegaard said, expressing warmth towards Ramsdale while maintaining competitive spirit.
