Marvel Cast Discusses Tight Secrecy Ahead of ‘Doomsday’ Release

LOS ANGELES, CA — With a year to go until the release of Marvel‘s highly anticipated film “Doomsday,” cast members reveal how strict the studio is about keeping details under wraps. Actor Wyatt Russell humorously described the media training he received as being threatened, saying, “Media training for ‘Doomsday’ is they just hold a knife to your neck and say, ‘You say anything, and it’s over.’”
In the meantime, fans can see Russell in his role as John Walker in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” which opens in theaters on May 2. David Harbour, who plays the Red Guardian in the upcoming “Thunderbolts,” echoed Russell’s sentiments about the pressure stemming from interviews. “It’s the most terrifying stunt imaginable,” he said. He explained that he frequently faces questions about his involvement in “Doomsday.”
Recent outings from Marvel, including “Captain America: Brave New World” and “The Marvels,” faced critical and commercial setbacks. However, early reactions to “Thunderbolts” have been encouraging. Critics have characterized it as a “bold dive into trauma, healing, and redemption.” Florence Pugh, who gained recognition in her role in “Black Widow,” has received praise for her performance in the film.
Amid these challenges, the marketing campaign for “Thunderbolts” has highlighted its talented cast and crew, including director Jake Schreier and writers Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. The promotional trailer also showcases Pugh’s notable performance in Ari Aster’s acclaimed “Midsommar.”
Looking ahead, Marvel fans can anticipate additional releases, including “The Fantastic Four: First Steps” set for July, alongside sequels “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars,” which are scheduled for May 1, 2026, and May 7, 2027, respectively.
