NEW YORK, Nov. 16 (UPI) — Actress Melissa McCarthy is set to host Saturday Night Live on Dec. 6, with singer-songwriter Dijon as the musical guest. The announcement was made during the current episode of SNL, which featured actor Glen Powell as the host.

Season 51 of the long-running sketch comedy show kicked off in October, with the latest episode airing this weekend. Following the Thanksgiving holiday, SNL will take a short break before returning in December for several episodes.

McCarthy, known for her roles in hit films like Bridesmaids, is a member of the esteemed Five-Timers Club, having hosted SNL multiple times since her first appearance in 2011. She last hosted in 2017, when she was presented with a membership jacket by fellow SNL alums Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. McCarthy has received several Emmy nominations for her guest hosting, winning once.

Dijon, who recently released his well-received album Baby, will be making his SNL debut. The alternative/neo-soul artist is known for tracks such as “Yamaha” and “The Dress” and has collaborated with major artists like Charli XCX and Justin Bieber.

The current season of SNL has already featured several high-profile hosts and musical guests, including Bad Bunny, Amy Poehler, Doja Cat, and Brandi Carlile. This mix of established names and fresh talent continues to keep the show’s format dynamic and engaging.

As SNL approaches its next episode, fans anticipate a blend of McCarthy’s comedic talent and Dijon’s musical performances, further solidifying the show’s tradition of bringing together iconic figures and up-and-coming stars.
