New York, NY – Actor Michael Rapaport disclosed on Monday that his wife encountered harassment in Times Square, raising concerns about safety in Midtown Manhattan. During a conversation with comedian Bill Maher, Rapaport emphasized the need for people to feel safe in New York City.

“I want my wife to feel safe. My wife is a tough broad. She doesn’t feel safe in Midtown Manhattan during the day,” Rapaport shared. He recounted instances of his wife being groped, having a shoe thrown at her, and facing racial slurs, all occurring between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the busy area.

Rapaport’s remarks come as crime in the city is a hot topic. “It’s not cool for women to feel uncomfortable during the daytime in the greatest city on Earth,” he said. He criticized recent events where individuals could assault police officers and seemingly escape justice.

During the discussion, Rapaport also addressed the New York City subway system. He expressed concern, saying, “It’s not Disneyland. It’s not the Central Park Zoo. But people like — it shouldn’t be a thrill, it shouldn’t be a house of horrors.”

The context of his comments coincided with New York City’s upcoming mayoral election. Rapaport expressed disbelief at the current frontrunner, Democratic socialist candidate Shamsi Mamdani, and urged Republican Curtis Sliwa to withdraw from the race, while voicing support for former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Rapaport, a vocal supporter of Israel, also took a stand against Hamas during the discussion, calling for their disarmament. He stated, “This guy is so full of f—— s—. It’s baffling to me that we’ve gotten this far, but this is where we are.”
