AS Monaco, currently placed fourth in Ligue 1, were left frustrated as they were held to a 1-1 draw by mid-table Le Havre in a Sunday clash. This result marks Monaco’s third consecutive league game without a win and a missed opportunity to climb up to the third spot and put pressure on their rivals. Both teams exhibited a tightly contested encounter throughout the match.

The match saw a quiet first half with few scoring opportunities, but Monaco broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute with a well-executed goal by Wissam Ben Yedder. The forward capitalized on a precise pass from Maghnes Akliouche to poke a first-time shot past Le Havre goalkeeper Arthur Desmas. This goal also elevated Ben Yedder to the second-highest scorer in the league with a total of 10 goals.

However, the joy for Monaco was short-lived as Le Havre swiftly responded by equalizing just two minutes later. The unfortunate goal came from Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana, who inadvertently put the ball into his own net from a free kick delivered into the box by Christopher Operi.

As the match neared its conclusion, Monaco desperately pushed forward in search of a winning goal. Their best opportunity arose eight minutes from time when substitute Takumi Minamino played a dangerous ball across the goal area. Ben Yedder came close to converting it, but Arouna Sangante of Le Havre made an excellent clearance, denying Monaco the victory.

The 1-1 draw leaves Monaco with 35 points from 20 games, level with Brest. They missed the chance to secure the third spot before Nice, with 38 points, take on Brest later in the day. Meanwhile, Le Havre secures their second consecutive away draw, placing them in the 11th position with 24 points in Ligue 1.
