HOUSTON – While temperatures dropped in Houston this week, the city heated up as beloved actors Morris Chestnut and Harold Perrineau, stars of the iconic film *The Best Man*, visited to promote their new bourbon, Sable Bourbon Whiskey, and celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary. The duo, who co-founded the whiskey brand, sat down with KPRC 2‘s Senior Digital Content Producer Brittany Taylor at a Heights venue to discuss their latest venture.

When asked about their first stop in Houston, Chestnut revealed his love for Pappadeaux, a local seafood chain. “For me, because we don’t have it in California, Pappadeaux. I like to eat a lot of greasy fried food at Pappadeaux,” he said. Perrineau, visiting Houston for the first time, admitted he had no prior reference but was eager to explore the city’s renowned barbecue scene.

Reflecting on the 25th anniversary of *The Best Man*, Chestnut expressed gratitude. “It’s an honor and a privilege to have a 25th anniversary of something like that and still be with people we love and have a good time with,” he said. The actors also shared the inspiration behind Sable Bourbon, noting that brown liquor was a recurring theme in the film. “Each time in *The Best Man*, if you go back and look when we were all together, like card games, we always have a brown liquor,” Perrineau explained.

The bourbon, named ‘Sable’—meaning ‘black’—symbolizes the depth and richness of the connections celebrated in the film. The actors collaborated with Bespoken Spirits, a craft whiskey producer, to perfect the flavor profile. “We had tastings, and it was all anonymous. We would write down what we tasted on a piece of paper, and at the end, we all liked the same one!” Chestnut said. Perrineau joked about the extensive tasting process, adding, “There was a lot of tasting and a lot of Advil.”

For fans looking to enjoy Sable Bourbon, Perrineau shared a recipe for a bourbon sour, combining egg whites, lemon, simple syrup, and grenadine. Chestnut recommended pairing the whiskey with a classic steak, while Perrineau suggested barbecue as a perfect match. The bourbon, priced at $61.99 for a 750ml bottle, is available at select Houston locations for those 21 and older.

The visit also included an interview with FOX 26‘s Coco Dominguez, where the actors discussed their collaboration with Taye Diggs and Malcolm D. Lee, who also starred in *The Best Man*. The quartet’s friendship and shared love for whiskey inspired the creation of Sable Bourbon, which features notes of brown sugar and dense chocolate, embodying the rich taste of brotherhood celebrated in the film.
