MIAMI, FloridaMSC Cruises is unveiling its latest ship, the MSC World America, at a grand naming ceremony this Wednesday at the newly constructed MSC Miami Cruise Terminal. The vessel, designed with a blend of European style and American comfort, boasts a capacity for 6,762 passengers and 2,138 crew members.

The MSC World America arrived at PortMiami on April 7, making a striking entrance as it navigated the Government Cut. The ship will host a two-night inaugural sailing to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, following the ceremony that features traditional maritime blessings and appearances by celebrities.

“This ship marks a new chapter in cruise history for North America and MSC,” said an MSC spokesperson. “We are excited to offer guests a unique experience that highlights both European sophistication and American ease.”

The naming ceremony will kick off a series of alternating 7-night Caribbean itineraries. Passengers will visit ports including Puerto Plata and San Juan during the eastern route and destinations like Costa Maya and Roatan in the west. Guests can also combine voyages for a 14-night experience aboard one of the largest cruise ships in the world.

MSC World America, weighing 215,800 gross tons, features 20 bars and lounges alongside 13 restaurants, catering to a diverse culinary palette. The ship’s innovative design includes an indoor World Galleria with a cutting-edge LED ceiling for engaging light shows and an extensive outdoor World Esplanade that offers sweeping ocean views.

For those seeking relaxation, the ship features 14 hot tubs and six pools. Adventure-seekers can check out the first-of-its-kind onboard waterpark, an 11-deck spiral dry slide, a roller rink, a ropes course, and bumper cars, ensuring there’s something for everyone.

Entertainment options abound, including the debut of MSC’s first dedicated comedy club, high-energy production shows, and live music. For guests interested in shopping, the ship offers over 10,000 square feet of retail space, ensuring ample opportunity for browsing.

Following a record-breaking year in 2024, with 34.6 million passengers, MSC World America is expected to play a crucial role in the continued growth of the North American cruise industry.
