NBA Player Props and Best Bets for January 17th: Heat, Edwards, Randle Highlight Key Matchups

MIAMI, Fla. — The NBA season continues to heat up as FanDuel Sportsbook highlights key player prop bets and best bets for Friday, January 17th, 2025. With matchups like the Miami Heat hosting the Denver Nuggets and Anthony Edwards facing the New York Knicks, bettors have plenty of opportunities to capitalize on undervalued lines and favorable matchups.
Derrick White of the Boston Celtics is a standout option for points and assists (PA) props. White is averaging 23.2 PA this season but has elevated his game against weaker defenses, posting 24.4 PA against bottom-15 defensive teams. The Charlotte Hornets, his opponent, rank 17th in defense and play at the ninth-fastest pace, a scenario where White has exceeded 22.5 PA in 73.3% of games. FanDuel Research projects White to log 24.0 PA in this matchup, making the over on his 22.5 PA line an appealing bet.
Meanwhile, Bam Adebayo of the Miami Heat is poised for a strong performance against the Denver Nuggets. Adebayo averages 30.1 combined points, rebounds, and assists (PRA) and has cleared 28.5 PRA in 57.9% of games. Denver’s fifth-fastest pace and defensive struggles against centers make Adebayo a prime candidate to exceed his PRA line. In their previous meeting this season, Adebayo tallied 33 PRA, and FanDuel projects him to surpass 28.5 PRA again.
Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves is another player to watch. Edwards is averaging 4.2 made three-pointers per game and has exceeded 3.5 threes in 10 of his last 14 games. Facing a New York Knicks team that ranks poorly in three-point defense, Edwards is a strong candidate to hit the over on his 3.5 three-pointer line.
Julius Randle of the New York Knicks is also in a favorable spot. Randle has scored at least 20 points in two of his last three games and faces a Minnesota Timberwolves team missing key players. FanDuel projects Randle to exceed his 19.5-point line, making the over a solid bet.
For those looking for a longshot, Naji Marshall of the Dallas Mavericks offers value. Marshall has recorded at least four assists in three of his last four games and could benefit from increased playmaking opportunities with Luka Doncic sidelined. At +133 odds, Marshall’s over on 3.5 assists is a high-upside play.
As always, lines and projections are subject to change, and bettors should monitor updates before placing wagers. FanDuel Sportsbook provides a comprehensive platform for exploring these and other NBA betting opportunities.
