Nissan Magnite Facelift Launched with Updated Features
The Nissan Magnite has received a mid-life update nearly four years after its initial launch in the Indian market. The facelifted compact SUV introduces subtle design changes and additional features, with prices starting at Rs 5.99 lakh (introductory, ex-showroom, pan-India). Bookings for the updated model have commenced, and Nissan offers several new variants of the vehicle, catering to diverse consumer preferences.
The Magnite lineup now features a range of variants powered by 1-litre petrol and 1-litre turbo-petrol engines, available with manual, AMT, and CVT transmissions. The introductory prices apply to the first 10,000 deliveries, keeping the starting price consistent with the outgoing model. Customers will need to pay an additional Rs 50,000 for AMT variants and Rs 1.15 lakh more for CVT-equipped models.
In terms of design, the facelifted Magnite retains the LED headlamps and boomerang-shaped DRLs from its predecessor. The grille has been slightly enlarged and redesigned with different elements, featuring a gloss black surround. The front bumper now includes an aggressively styled skid plate, while the fog lamps have been repositioned towards the center. The side profile remains mostly unchanged, except for new 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, the LED tail lamps have been tweaked with different internal lighting elements.
Inside, the cabin of the new Magnite remains largely the same, now featuring a black and orange theme. The dashboard layout is similar, with minor updates such as soft-touch leatherette padding in orange. Notable interior additions include an ambient lighting strip and chrome accents around the gear knob and door pads.
The updated Magnite is equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, supporting wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with a wireless phone charger. Additional features include automatic climate control, ambient lighting in four colors, and a 7-inch digital driver’s display.
Safety enhancements in the facelifted Magnite include six standard airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), auto-dimming IRVM, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.
The powertrain options remain unchanged from the previous model, offering a 1-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 1-litre turbo-petrol engine. These engines provide power outputs of 72 PS and 100 PS, with corresponding torque figures of 96 Nm and up to 160 Nm. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT, and CVT, while fuel efficiency ratings range from 17.9 kmpl to 19.9 kmpl, depending on the variant.
The Magnite facelift positions itself against competitors in the subcompact SUV segment, such as the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Toyota Urban Cruiser, and Renault Kiger, as well as sub-4m crossovers like the Maruti Suzuki Fronx and Citroën C3.
